Simple Encouragement Cards

Pretty and personal little encouragement notes

Looking for a cute and inexpensive way to give a little message of encouragement or love?

This is a great  rainy day activity to do with your children when you can’t get outside. You can stick them in a briefcase or sack lunch to tell of your affection :>)

Once we made 40 of these for a simple 40th birthday gift. That took several days off and on, but it is as easy as using scissors, writing your message,  and pressing on a star or sticker of your choice!

1. Start with brightly colored scrap-booking paper, scissors, and craft scissor (with a zig-zag or scroll insert for cutting decorative edges).  They can be found at crafting stores but are not necessary.

2. With straight edge scissors, cut the papers about 1 1/2″ – 2″ wide and up to 7″ long depending on the size of the finished note you want.

The craft scissors are called 'Paper Shapers'. The pattern is 'Armada'

3. Fold the strips to make a tiny, open- sided envelope and score at the folds. Remember to make a flap to hold the little card together.

For me, making the folds before you write your message helps. The folds keep your lines straighter and the overall effect is neater.

4. Write your message.Verses from the Bible which lift and inspire up include:

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” -Deuteronomy 31:6

Write your message of encouragement, thanks, or Scripture.

“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong” – Corinthians 16:13

“The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” – Proverbs 18:10

Make memorable children's notes

Children will love to write notes when they do it (and see you doing it) from a young age – more is caught than taught :)

Remember to put on a gold or silver star to seal your handwritten dispatch!
