Gentle On The Throat – Traditional Medicinals Tea

Traditional Medicinals tea, throat coat, raw honey, apple cider vinegar

It's the best thing we have ever used for sore throats

Traditional Medicinals! The name tells a lot about this product! ‘Traditional ‘ = something tried and true, used widely because it does the job.

‘Medicinals‘ = in this case, from the pharmacy of the Creator God. This is not a drug, not man-made or altered in any way.

Very cost effective for what their products do, this company makes many blends for a huge number of ailments! Each one is well researched and respected within the complimentary and alternative medicine circles.

Right now all our young people are well, but my husband and I have been hit hard with terrible sore throats. We realize how wimpy we are when we are sick; we want to be well and feel well fast! Right now, so many are experiencing sore throats and coughs. Maybe it’s all the weeks and weeks of rain, high winds, and fluctuating temperatures.

First, you simply want to feel better and strengthen your system. But not with pharmaceuticals or over-the-counter remedies.  We go for the tea cabinet – it is our medicine cabinet :)

Put on the tea kettle, Throat coat tea, Traditional medicinals, raw honey

Put the tea kettle on the stove. Get out your favorite mugs, and I will give you an effective and soothing recipe. Before I do, read the label and see what it contains:

Recipe for my special concoction using Throat Coat Tea:

- Boiling hot water in your favorite mug

– Throat Coat tea bag(s) – (usually 1/person- however, 1 bag will make 2 cups)

- Raw honey – 1 tsp, rounded, (honey that has never been heated)

- apple cider vinegar – 1 tablespoon/mug, preferably organic

Bragg's apple cider vinegar with the 'mother', raw honey, sore throat

Don’t let the thought of vinegar stop you! The vinegar and honey combination is very palatable, and cuts right through the thickness, phlegm, and pain of a really sore throat.

The tea is warming and sweet, even without honey. The raw honey provides complex  enzymes and minerals.

Raw apple cider vinegar (with the mother) has been attributed with its own set of old time cures. They include sinus infections, allergies, sore throats, candida, acid reflux, arthritis, and acne.

Certified Bragg Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar is unfiltered, unheated, unpasteurized. It contains the amazing ‘Mother of Vinegar’ which occurs naturally as strand-like enzymes of connected protein molecules. You can get both Traditional Medicinal teas and Bragg’s Raw apple cider vinegar at most health food stores, Meijer, Whole Foods, and most large grocers.

The powerful ingredients in Throat Coat that make it so helpful are slippery elm bark, licorice root, and wild cherry bark.  It tastes simply delicious (warming and sweet), but it is real medicine – a great combination!

Slippery elm bark, when added to water, becomes a soothing mucilage. The mucilage moistens and soothes the throat, while the bark’s tannins are astringent, making slippery elm ideal to sooth inflammation.

Licorice root has been used for stomach ulcers, bronchitis, and sore throat, as well as infections caused by viruses, such as hepatitis.

And wild cherry bark is used for bronchitis, the common cold, and hay fever.

Raw honey - full of enzymes and amazing nutrients

I used to think that my husband wouldn’t want to drink the tea. But, yesterday, when I made a cup of tea for my husband, he started humming the old Mary Poppins tune and say, “A little bit of honey makes the medicine go down.” And he asked for another mug today :)
